Days out in North Yorkshire

The Moors
Driving across the moors through Danby stopping at the Moors Centre before going onto Lealhome for a bit of plant shopping at the little nursery followed by a treat in the tea shop in this pretty village.

Taking a boat ride from Whitby Harbour to go whale watching, coming back and treating yourself to fish and chips in the famous Magpie Cafe.

Walking along the beach at Sandsend, hunting for fossils whilst tucking into an ice cream from the cafe near the car park.

Discovering Scampston Hall and Gardens.  Wonderful gardens with interesting plants and design. Stroll through the woodland walk and finish with a coffee in the garden cafe.

Visiting the beautiful walled gardens in Helmsley, set against the scenic back drop of the castle ruins. Take time to wander amongst the galleries and shops in this pretty town.

Market Towns
Exploring the tiny market town of Kirkbymoorside, Wednesday is market day. Find antiques, a wine cellar in the chemists, a butcher who grows his own meat and a deli, plenty of places to eat, all sorts for such a little town.

Castle Howard
Listening to an open air concert in the magnificent grounds of Castle Howard and feasting on a Toftly View picnic.

Dalby Forest
Dalby Forest offers opportunities for both walkers and cyclists as do the many paths on the open moors. You can find a variety of cycle paths in Dalby Forest for a range of abilities, there is bike hire at the Courtyard.

Watching the varied wildlife in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, exploring forests, The Moors, and the dramatic Yorkshire coast. Sit and picnic or just let the world go by.
